How to play the geography quiz

Each expedition has five clues. Find a country that fits each clue and try an unexpected valid answer.

  1. Read the clue and its scope carefully; some questions use a specific source or date.
  2. Select a country on the world map or use country search. You can change your choice until you confirm.
  3. Confirm your country, then see the result, answer list and sources before moving to the next question.

Daily, Unlimited and Chapters

The Daily geography quiz uses the same fixed set for a UTC date. Relaxed has no timer; Timed gives you 60 seconds per question and continues while help is open. Unlimited selects a new set, while Chapters offer themed sets. An unfinished expedition can be resumed on this device when browser storage is available.

Daily first attempts are tracked separately for each pace. A replay or a new attempt after abandoning a first attempt is practice. Archive lets you start an earlier set as practice or resume an unfinished attempt.

How scores work

A correct answer earns 40, 55, 70, 85 or 100 points, for a maximum of 500. Incorrect answers, skips and timeouts earn zero. These tiers use editorial estimates or source-data proxies, not statistics about other players.

If the source lacks data for a selected country, choose another: it is not counted as an incorrect answer. For tiny countries, use the map markers or Small countries list; country search is also available. Non-catalog territories remain unavailable.
